Research Interests
Access to affordable drinking water is taken for granted throughout Japan. However, this status quo is deteriorating day by day, due to issues such as intensive and rapid infrastructure deterioration, workforce shortages, revenue stagnation due to depopulation, and privatization to mention a few.
To maintain current water supply systems under limited budgets and workforces, rational and accountable planning is indispensable. In particular, pipelines are a key domain because they account for nearly 70% of all water supply assets.
In this context, my current research interests include;
- water pipe replacement planning based on asset management
- rational water distribution systems design
by using stochastics, statistics, hydraulic simulation, optimization, and programming. In particular, hydraulic simulation and optimization of water distribution systems are my primary focus.
